Clean Up Your Property for Sale with These Cleaning Tips: A blog about sprucing your home up prior to sale.

Introduction

As a real estate agent, I get to see a lot of homes. Some are in great condition and others…less so. When it comes to purchasing property, many buyers will be looking for a nice-looking home that has been regularly cleaned and taken care of by its current owners. That’s why we always ask homeowners to clean up site before their buyers arrive. A clean home is an inviting home and can help make your buyer feel at ease when they walk through the front door. If you’re currently thinking about selling your home or if you’ve just put it on the market, here are some tips for keeping it looking its best:

Clean Out The Attic

The attic is a great place to store things, but it can be difficult to keep organized. Hiring a professional organizer may be the best option for you if you have a lot of stuff in your attic. A professional organizer will help you sort through your belongings so that only valuable items stay in the house and everything else gets sold or donated.

If hiring an expert isn’t possible or affordable for you right now, consider doing some sorting yourself! If there are items up there that no longer serve any purpose (like old furniture), get rid of them immediately so that they don’t become clutter later on down the line when they’re needed again by someone else who wants them more than what they’re worth now since they’ve been sitting around collecting dust for so long already.

Clean Out The Garage

  • Clean out the garage. If you’re like most people, your garage may be filled with tools and equipment sitting there for years. Or, perhaps it’s a catch-all for those items that don’t have a permanent home in your house. Either way, it’s time to eliminate what doesn’t belong there and organize what does.
  • Clean out the car. If you haven’t cleaned out your car in a while, do so now! Remove any trash from underneath seats or between cushions; wipe down all surfaces with an antibacterial wipe; vacuum out pet hair if necessary; wash windows inside and out if they are dirty (and use ammonia-free glass cleaner). Your vehicle can look great again without spending any money on professional detailing services!
  • Don’t forget about garden sheds either! These small storage areas can easily become overstuffed with old tools and equipment while still containing boxes full of holiday decorations no one wants anymore–not even at yard sales prices!

Clean Your Windows

Next, you’ll want to clean your windows from top to bottom. Start with the outside and work your way in, making sure you don’t miss any spots or streaks. Use a squeegee to remove water from the window, spray on glass cleaner, and wipe it off with a microfiber cloth.

This is one of those tasks that can be done quickly if you’re not careful (and leave behind some serious streaks), so take your time when doing this part of the job!

Deep Clean Your Home’s Floors

The floors are the first thing that people notice when they walk into your home. Make sure yours are clean and free of dust, hair and dirt.

  • Use a vacuum cleaner to get rid of dust and hair on hard surfaces such as tile or wood.
  • A damp mop can also be used to clean hard surfaces like tile or wood; just make sure you don’t soak it too much so that it won’t damage your flooring material.
  • If you want an even deeper clean for your floors, consider using a steam cleaner instead of a damp mop because it will kill germs better than just removing surface dirt with water alone! It’s also important not to forget about any carpeted areas since these tend not only collect dust but also pet dander which may cause allergies if left unchecked!”

Deep Clean Your Home’s Walls, Ceilings and Doors

  • Spray a mixture of water and vinegar on the walls.
  • Wipe it off with a clean cloth, making sure to get into all the corners and crevices where dust tends to accumulate if you don’t have time for a full-on deep cleaning session (which we recommend). Repeat if necessary until your walls are clean!
  • Clean doors with a mixture of water and vinegar by using an old rag or sponge dipped in this solution, then wipe away any dirt or grime on your door handles as well

Spring-Clean Your Bathroom(s)

Spring-clean your bathroom(s)

Clean the sink and toilet. Run a disinfectant cleaner over the entire surface of both items, including under the rim of the toilet bowl where dirt and grime tend to accumulate. You may want to use a toothbrush or small scrubbing brush to get into hard-to-reach places, like behind faucet handles or under soap dispensers on sinks. Be sure not to scratch any surfaces while cleaning them! Once you’ve finished with these tasks, wipe down all surfaces with paper towels so that there’s no residual moisture left behind–this can cause mold growth if not taken care of properly!

Clean out your tub drain every month or so (or at least once per year), as well as any shower heads that need it (you’ll know because water will start backing up). Make sure there aren’t any hairs blocking the drains either; this happens more often than you think!

A clean home can be a welcome home.

  • A clean home can be a welcome home.
  • A clean home equals a clean mind.
  • A clean home attracts buyers.
  • Cleaning is good for your health, wallet and reputation!

Conclusion

We hope these tips have helped you to get your house in shape for sale. Remember, if you’re looking for a home that needs some work, there are professionals out there that can help!
